After watching Jon Stewart interview Jimmy Carter moments ago, I was struck by how mild and soft spoken Carter is. I’ve never seen any footage of him freaking out. Never seen anyone throw a shoe at him. He works for peace and does so in a method that isn’t calling on him to act in a manner different from his authentic self. No puffery.

I reflect on this because so often I give pause to how I’m speaking with others. My tone. My sound levels. My body language. Important stuff folks and I’d encourage you to try it. We are in the Obama age after all!

Now to quote my favouite Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan, “make sure to project calm, assertive energy’.

The Flash in the Can festival has decided to encourage more ladies to participate at their upcoming event in Toronto April 25-28 by offering 100 festival tickets to any women who would like to attend.

The caveat is that they’d like for those interested to create a short film expressing why they’d like to attend FITC Toronto and the first 100 will be the lucky winners.

They’re also looking for suggestions for female speakers so be sure to give kudos to those superstars in the industry that don’t often speak at events.
